The Oscars got off to a great start this year. Despite the forecasted chance of rainy weather, the celebrities donned custom designer gowns and spectacular jewellery on this year’s red carpet. With attention being taken away from the movie roles and performances, every major broadcast covering the awards wanted to know “who” people were wearing.
Watching the coverage, it was easy to see why they fashion took centre stage during the red carpet interviews. Celebrities put their best trends forward and chose to wear the latest in Spring/Summer 2014 trends.
Statement necklaces, strapless and deep plunging necklines, and vintage lace and overlay were the most seen trends of the night.
Neutral whites, nudes and creams, to beautiful hues of pastel blues and steel grey were some of the most seen colours on the runway. Supporting Actress nominee Lupita Nyong’o wore a stunning custom-made Prada gown in a colour she coined “Nairobi blue.” The dress, and her adorable head band, easily puts Lupita at the top of our best dressed list.
