The 2013 Frocktail Party was held this year at the Arcadian Loft and was a night of combining two great loves in our lives – shopping, which everyone likes to do, and supporting a charitable cause. Each year, a wide selection of award-winning designers and fashion-forward retailers donate stunning frocks, accessories, menswear and luxury experiences to be sold to the night’s highest bidders. This year was no exception with racks and racks of clothing donated from retailers, like French Connection, and Marciano, and individuals ( Rachel McAdams, Nelly Furtado, Cheryl Hickey, Tanya Kim, and Suzanne Rogers who had a whole section for all the dresses that she donated).
Grounded in familial support, The Frocktail Party was founded in 2009 in hopes of making a difference in Torontonian Vanessa Oliver’s life. Having been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of six, Vanessa is no stranger to daily insulin injections, fingers pokes, and the incessant worry that comes with long-term complications of the disease. Hoping to put an end to such worry, supporters of Vanessa’s plight, Jessica Oliver, Ali Reid and Jen Foster created The Frocktail Party. The event has already raised over $140,000 since 2009, and the founders were thrilled to support The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) for yet another year.
